About the Journal
The journal "The Kartvelologist" (E-ISSN: 1512-441X; P-ISSN: 1512-1186) is a bilingual (Georgian and English), peer-reviewed, professional, and academic publication covering all fields of Georgian studies. In addition to introducing scholarly innovations in the field, the journal aims to promote the works of Georgian researchers internationally and to disseminate foreign achievements among Georgian scientific circles.
Starting from 2026, the journal is indexed in the International Scientific Database ERIH PLUS.

The journal is published once a year. Between 1993 and 2009, it was issued only in print (Nos. 1–15). The journal is published by the "TSU Center for Kartvelian Studies" (TSU) and financially supported by "The Fund for Kartvelian Studies." and is published by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Publishing House (The Press was founded in 1933. It is a part of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Its purpose is to support the successful implementation scientific, educational and educational activities of the University. The Kartvelologist publishes articles of scholars working on the issues of Kartvelian\Georgian studies:
- Kartvelological chronicle. Under this heading a review of recent important developments in Kartvelological scholarship will be given (of a Kartvelological congress or important symposia; information about the holding of a Summer School, etc), or information reports on significant facts brought to light in Georgian Studies.
- Eminent Kartvelologists. This will be devoted to a review of the scholarly activity of well-known Kartvelologists of earlier centuries or of the present day; a bibliography of Kartvelological studies, or greetings in connection with their anniversary dates.
- Reminiscences on Kartvelologists. This heading will present reminiscences on well-known foreign and Georgian Kartvelologists, or on important facts in the history of Kartvelological sciences.
- Encyclopedic review. Under this heading papers summing up and reviewing separate branches or subbranches of Kartvelological sciences will appear, providing full information to both foreign and Georgian readers on the status of a definite line or branch of Kartvelology.
- One basic heading, obligatory in each issue of the journal, will be Scholarly themes. Under this heading those studies will appear that refer to new questions in some branch of Kartvelology\Georgian Studies or offering a novel interpretation of well-known problems. For its part, this heading will be subdivided into various directions according to different branches of Kartvelology, e. g. Scholarly themes: Rustaveli Studies, Kartvelian languages, Georgian art, Georgian History, Georgian Literature, Foreign scholars on Georgian Studies etc. Of the above headings, some (and not all) will be represented in each issue of the journal. Should need arise new headings may be added in future.

* The unprecedented circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the temporary suspension of the journal, which was usually published annually. After several years, the editorial board has renewed its efforts and presented issues - #28, #29 which encompasses materials from 2019-2020 and 2021–2022.
